Episode 58: The difference between healing and remaining positive at all times
Thursday Mar 10, 2022
Thursday Mar 10, 2022
Healing isn't always sexy. It’s about going to the dark spaces within ourselves and being able to sit with them, accept them and find peace with them.
Positive affirmations might work for some people, but with unhealed trauma, they are likely to do more harm than good. Healing from trauma is key. It will allow you to be fully present and focused at the moment, and this is when the true magic happens. Unresolved trauma can keep us in a trauma loop, which can prevent us from seeing the opportunities around us.
This week's episode is from a live class I did a few months ago. In this episode I share what you need to know about positive affirmation vs healing. If you have been feeling like you can't manifest or affirmations and vision boards don't work for you, then this episode may help shed light on what's happening.
Tune in!
During this episode, you will learn about:
[00:14] Introduction into the show
[04:39] Today’s topic: Positive thinking vs healing
[05:42] Why positive affirmations might not work for you
[06:41] Generational trauma and why we need to address and resolve it
[09:48] Holding space for yourself and giving way to healing
[14:51] Breaking the emotional attachment to see the pain differently
[17:33] Soul retrieval work, and being aware of the triggers
[19:12] The beauty of inner healing and the magic that happens
[22:51] Letting go and tapping into your inner wisdom
[26:47] When the affirmations and visualizations work better
[28:45] Resources now available on YouTube and Facebook for you
[29:44] Ending the show and call to actions
Notable Quotes
- Acknowledging and healing your trauma is what lightens the burden so you can focus on future goals.
- True magic happens when you are fully present and focused on the present.
- The deeper the trauma, the less likely the affirmations are going to work, and they can do more damage than good
- Our unresolved trauma keeps us in a trauma loop, which can prevent us from seeing opportunities around us.

Episode 57: Why Budgets Don’t Work
Thursday Mar 03, 2022
Thursday Mar 03, 2022
In this week’s episode of the #MoneyMagic podcast, I talk about why budgets don't work.
If you’re unable to minimize your spending despite doing everything that budgeting calls for, it’s not your fault, and you’re not alone. The truth is that budgets don’t work for most people and yet we keep getting taught to budget and when we fail to stick to a budget we feel ashamed, like there’s something wrong with us.
We're taught that we need self-discipline even when we know that it’s not working for us. Self-discipline and budgeting are all about willpower, and will power is a limited resource. We all get tired of constantly making decisions in a budgeting culture, and when this happens, our willpower runs dry. Your willpower is like a gatekeeper. Every time you’ve to stop yourself from spending physically, your willpower and decision faculties are eroded, resulting in financial decision-making fatigue.
Join the conversation with me, your host Vangile Makwakwa as I share a live class, “Why budgeting doesn’t work.”
I have been there, tried budgeting (in different countries) to improve my money spending habits and later got into a “give up game” to improve my finances and pay off my debts with no success. This never worked out for me despite depriving myself and giving up my favorite foods, restaurants, and transport to save more money. Instead, things were getting worse. Find out what works in changing spending habits and the alternative to a traditional budget.
Tune in!
During this episode, you will learn about;
[02:03] Introduction into the episode
[04:39] Today’s topic: Why budget doesn’t work
[05:02] “You don’t have a problem in budgeting” My money habits in different countries
[09:20] “Giving up game” How I tried budgeting to pay off her debts
[16:23] What I did after discovering budgeting was not working
[19:30] Behavioral economics: Decision financial fatigue and willpower erosion
[26:44] Developing your capacity to use willpower by shifting your mindset
[28:40] How trauma eats away our will power, especially when we’re triggered
[29:42] Self-deprivation: A budget is not about self-denial
[36:54] Honoring your wants and doing the inner healing work
[40:47] Letting go of what you’ve been taught about money
[45:43] Bleeding money and how we get triggered
[49:19] What happens when your younger self hijack you in your finances
[51:12] Carrying trauma in the body and how if affects us
[54:11] Bank account challenge; Working with the body to integrate trauma in spending.
[59:56] How to access and register for the bank account challenge
[01:01:39] Answering questions from the #MoneyMagic viewers
[01:12:05] Ending the show and what to expect in the next Live show
Notable Quotes
- We are taught that we need self-discipline even when we know that budgets don’t work
- We’re human, and all sorts of things will interfere with rationality, and we won’t always behave logically
- There is trauma in constantly denying your needs and being logical, and trauma erases our gut instinct
- Our money set points are directly linked with the vows that we make to our parents

Episode 56: The Power of Letting Go and Shifting Your Identity
Thursday Feb 24, 2022
Thursday Feb 24, 2022
This week on the #MoneyMagic I talk to LiSara (Formerly Lisa Dennen-Young), an anti-racist Leadership and Life coach, musician, and host of Music Medicine Membership. Lisa’s mission is to support the elevation of voices that have been unheard and to support the use of expression as a vehicle of healing, growth, liberation, and collective empowerment.
LiSara was a forensic linguistic interpreter in legal systems, but listening and trusting her own gifts and being willing to shed the identities that held her in linguistic work is what led to her new identity. She started as a love and relation coach and stepped out of smaller boxes to get to where she is today. In this podcast, she explains why stepping into your highest calling and saying yes is allowing yourself to do the things that you never thought you were supposed to do. And this is power!
In the podcast we discuss why when you’re creating, you’re in your place of power, and you’re tapping into universal creation. You’re a manifester, and creating allows you to see how powerful you are, not because you have an expectation but because you’re letting something come out of you. Birthing a new idea on how you are going to meet your money goals and heal ancestral-held trauma is what positions you in power and gives you a new identity.
This is another incredible episode.
Tune in!
During this episode, you will learn about:
[04:30] LiSara’s career backstory and what she does in the coaching space
[09:56] Identity: the idea behind LiSara's mastermind coaching program
[18:58] Acknowledging the impact of systems and holding space for others
[22:15] LiSara’s transition from linguistic interpreter to being a coach
[29:58] Getting into your place of power and shifting your identity
[33:56] Letting go of struggle identities and connecting with an abundance identity
[40:23] Shifting your identity and inviting people in your circles in your new life
[46:47] Holding your expansion and living in your truth
[47:31] Systemic victimization; internalizing your identity from a disempowering point
[52:02] Pendulum shift; finding a balance between receiving and creating for yourself
[01:01:35] The sense of competition around the token spot
[01:05:05] The phrase: Love is not enough and how it played in LiSara's marriage
[01:09:03] Shifting your beliefs around money to receive more
[01:13:05] Living from your gifts and trusting your intuition
[01:22:38] How to reach out, connect and work with LiSara
Notable Quotes
- We don’t shift ourselves because of people around us but because of what is within us.
- Belonging is being a part of, and being a part is being or acting similar to others.
- In a system that is oppressive, identity is what gets marginalized
- If you’re asking for support, there is nothing wrong with you, and you are not failing

Episode 55: Designing your financial future for yourself and your descendants
Thursday Feb 17, 2022
Thursday Feb 17, 2022
This week I talked to Tsitsi Mutiti, an investment manager and a certified financial coach based in the UK. Tsitsi has been in the financial industry for over 13 years since she moved to the UK from Zimbabwe. She started as a secretary and worked her way up to where she is today. Tsitsi got into coaching because she felt there was a gap between high and low niche wealth individuals that she served despite the financial industry having so much to offer.
In this podcast, we chat about how money habits are all about our mindset around money. Trauma makes you forget about your magic and yourself. Understanding your past about money will help you know how you impact your relationship with money. Money is just a tool, you’re in complete control, and you can point it to whatever you want it to achieve. You can rewrite your money story, become the author of your financial story, don’t let other people write it for you.
Tsitsi shares how she got into massive debt in the UK; creating a lifestyle that the world told her she should have. However, once she focused on spending money in alignment with her values, the money started flowing. This enabled her to consolidate and pay off her debt in one and a half years instead of six years. Tsitsi is debt-free, and she has been helping people get out of debt and expand their money over the years.
Tune in!
During this episode, you will learn about;
[03:26] Tsitsi’s career backstory and how she got into the financial industry

Episode 53: Money (& your business) takes the form of who you are…
Thursday Feb 03, 2022
Thursday Feb 03, 2022
This week in the #MoneyMagic I talked to Lesego Lekwakwe, head of customer relations and a hairdresser. To Lesego, hairdressing is both a gift and a business that has given her an edge in life. She started plaiting hair when she was ten years old, and the fire is still on even after acquiring a degree and masters.
In this podcast Lesego explains that money is not just a mode of exchange, it also carries energy that takes the form of who you are. Your currency is in the emotion. Your trauma and emotions that govern money determine your energy around money. A negative attitude will make money distance itself from you. Just like you, money also wants to be loved and adored to create a positive impact.
Lesego explains how taking the course has allowed her to change her definition of money. At first, she thought she knew everything about money, but she discovered she had trouble with her bank account, spending and pricing her services. The course taught her how to value her gifts and business to connect with clients at her energy level. Lesego has also mastered the habit of paying herself first and spending in alignment with her values.
Tune in!
During this episode, you will learn about:
[03:30] Lesego’s career backstory

Episode 52: Using yoga to heal trauma and grief?
Thursday Jan 27, 2022
Thursday Jan 27, 2022
This week in the #MoneyMagic Podcast, I talk to Jawana Marshall, a mom, yogi, and the founder of Brown Girl Yoga Tribe. Jawana fell in love with yoga at 18 after her father died. Her first experience was backed by competition and experimenting on how flexible she was. The second time she did it, her purpose was different, and she was very intentional. For her, yoga embodied the person she wanted to be, loving and peaceful.
Yoga is not about what you’re doing with your body. It’s about finding your space from the inside. Finding stillness beyond your thoughts, movements, and whatever is happening around you. This is the heart of yoga, and being able to find peace and calmness over and over again is what will help you find your healing.
We usually have different layers of emotional trauma. Everything starts in the casual body, then in the astral body, emotional body, and mental body before manifesting in the physical body.
Yoga is a gentle journey, and it will help you peel off the layers and heal. For Jawana, it has given her priceless calm feeling no matter what is happening around her. She was in a mess, but yoga created a space for breakthroughs and to be authentically happy while pushing beyond those boundaries energetically.
This is another incredible episode.

Episode 51: How to do difficult things
Thursday Jan 20, 2022
Thursday Jan 20, 2022
This week in the #MoneyMagic Podcast I talk to Lungile Ngubane, a fitness trainer and accountability partner. Lungi helps women achieve their fitness goals using their feminine cycle. Her mission is to create a safe space for all her clients based on their individual experiences to help them heal their emotional trauma and reach their goals.
The question, where are you and how are you feeling is not asked enough in the fitness space. This is because we tend to focus on the big numbers and how we can achieve them in a short time which makes training physically and emotionally draining. Different exercises do different work for us, and as women we respond differently to exercise every day. This is why we need to practice self-compassion. In this podcast we talk about giving ourselves five minutes of courage and what that means.
So many of us quit the gym and don’t like exercising because we think it’s difficult. Exercising is not difficult, but it will force you to go into your body and feel the things that are stored there, which can be uncomfortable. Working with our bodies can help us process pain from our trauma, which can help us heal.
Lungi also explains why there’s nothing wrong with getting emotional and that it’s a sign that something happened to you, and what happened to you is key in creating a safe space for healing and exercising.
This is a great episode to help you understand how to do difficult things.

Tabita is passionate about society’s moral structures, the norms, the culture, and the state of affairs, especially when it comes to young women.
Money is power, and it lays the basis for negotiation. Money has the power to take you to places you want to go and become what you want to in life. It can also buy you respect that you have not earned and a seat at a table that you don’t deserve.
Doing the #MoneyMagic course has helped Tabita to understand, accept, and fix her impulsive buying habit, which she developed from a young age. The course has also changed her relationship with her money. This has enabled her to discuss financial matters with her family and open up about her expenses. Before the course, she was dishonest, but now she is happy with her wardrobe and at peace with her finances.
