In this week’s #MoneyMagic podcast, I talk to Boitumelo (Tumi) Mofokeng to discuss how her relationship with money has changed since taking the Money Magic course. Tumi is a mother of two, with her most recent child being born in 2020, and on top of that, she is a rental property owner.
Before taking the course, Tumi's relationship with money was that of a distant lover, it would come, and just as quickly it would go.
She felt as if she constantly had to fight and prove that she deserved to have money while simultaneously focusing on just one aspect of money.
Tumi admits to only accepting money as a tangible item you work for, she would always be on the hunt for different and/or better jobs, but in the end, these jobs would result in the same pay with more responsibility.
Moreover, Tumi shares her anxiety whenever people ask her for money because it felt reminiscent of when her parents would lend their money only to be rewarded with betrayal and ungratefulness.
She shares the emotional shift she felt when she finally decided to love herself by setting boundaries and saying no.
She reinforced her love by sticking to those boundaries and choosing to respect herself. Tumi is no longer afraid of people rejecting her for saying no to lending money and admits that it now comes with ease, and as a result, money no longer feels like a distant lover - it now feels like close family.
If money was a lover, how would your relationship look like?
